Odeon Leicester Square Built in 1937 on the site of Alhambra Theatre, a large music hall dating from the 1850s, Odeon Leicester Square is the largest single screen theater in the United Kingdom. It has first UK's wide screen installed in 1953, and was the first to have a digital projector installed in 1999. The 1683-seat theater hosts numerous British film premieres including the annual Royal Film Performance. It is fully equipped to show films in various formats and has an extensive stage facilities for the occasional live shows. There are also 5 small screens in the Mezzanine. The theater houses all major digital sound systems: SDDS, Dolby Digital and DTS. There are a large bar and 'Royal Retiring Room.'
