“Untraceable” (2008) overview “Untraceable” is a suspenseful, intense and action oriented film. It shows modern bad news society in intense, entertaining and thought-provoking way. Jennifer Marsh (played by Best Actress Oscar nominee Diane Lane) is a single parent living in a suburban Portland home with her young daughter Annie Haskins (Perla Haney-Jardine). Jennifer works in the FBI's Internet Crimes division alongside Griffin Dowd (Colin Hanks), fighting identity theft and similar crimes. Marsh gets caught in a very personal and deadly game with a killer who knows that people (being what they are – both curious and drawn to the dark side of things) will log onto an "untraceable" website where he conducts violent and painful murders LIVE on the net. The videos are recorded in the killer's basement. At first it seems the victims were randomly chosen, but it turns out that there is more to the story. At a press conference, the public is urged to avoid website, but, as Marsh feared, this only increases the site's popularity. As time runs out, an investigation becomes more personal... A temporary studio was constructed in Clackamas, Oregon where all non-location photography was done, mostly interiors, including the FBI's cyber division, Marsh's house, the FBI building elevator, several basements, etc. A scene set on the east end of the Broadway Bridge was shot both on the actual bridge, as well as at the studio. A faux diner was built underneath the Broadway bridge, which was used in the movie. The construction of this set took less than twelve hours. The birthday party for Haney-Jardine's character was filmed in the roller skating rink of Oaks Amusement Park. Additional details “Untraceable” also known as “Streaming Evil” (original script title) The site used by the killer (www.killwithme.com) actually exists. It's owned by the movie studio and it's used to promote the movie. In it, users are taken to a replica of the FBI computer used by the character Jennifer Marsh. Her desktop gets hacked by the killer who provides the visitor with four test he/she must complete to deactivate his site. |
