“Surrogates” (2009) overview [ "Surrogates" official poster ] A gripping action thriller directed by Jonathan Mostow ("Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines," "Breakdown"). People are living their lives remotely from the safety of their own homes via robotic surrogates – sexy, physically perfect mechanical representations of themselves. It's an ideal world where crime, pain, fear and consequences don't exist. When the first murder in years jolts this utopia, FBI agent Greer (Willis) discovers a vast conspiracy behind the surrogate phenomenon and must abandon his own surrogate, risking his life to unravel the mystery... "Surrogates" also stars Radha Mitchell ("Love and Other Catastrophes," "High Art," "Pitch Black," "Man On Fire," "Feast of Love," "Henry Poole Is Here"), Rosamund Pike ("Wives and Daughters," "Die Another Day," "Fracture") and Ving Rhames ("Pulp Fiction," "Con Air," "Mission: Impossible" films, "Echelon Conspiracy"). This is actually footage of Dr. Hiroshi Ishiguro of Osaka University, Japan, and his creation - Geminoid, a prototype android double of himself. The VSI building was depicted by using a digitally altered version of the Dallas Bank of America Plaza. A close up shot of Strickland's FBI file shows his place of birth as Lynn, Massachusetts. Lynn is also the real life birth place of actor Jack Noseworthy, the actor who plays Strickland in the film. When agents Greer and Peters first visit VSI, they walk past a group of video screens showing VSI commercials and other programming. In part of one screen is briefly seen a rotating model of a Terminator T-800 head from Jonathan Mostow's "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines."
