“Juno” (2007) overview Juno (played by Ellen Page) is a 16-year-old girl, who decides one day, out of boredom or curiosity, to have sex with her friend Paulie Bleeker (played by Michael Cera), a member of her school's track team. She and her best friend Leah (Olivia Thirlby) decide to seek for prospective adoptive parents. Juno has to go thru, dealing with issues which wouldn't normally be dealt with her tender age. . . . . . . . . . . "Juno" quotes Juno: It started with a chair. . . . . Rollo: So what's the prognosis, Fertile Myrtle? Minus or plus? Juno: I don't know. It's not seasoned yet. [grabs products] Juno: I'll take some of these. Nope... There it is. The little pink plus sign is so unholy. [shakes pregnancy tester] Rollo: That ain't no Etch-A-Sketch. This is one doodle that can't be un-did, Homeskillet. . . . . Leah: Dude, I think it's best to just tell 'em. Juno: I'm Pregnant. Bren: Oh, God. Juno: But, uh ah, I'm going to give it up for adoption and I already found the perfect couple, they're going to pay for the medical expenses and everything. And and what ah 30 or odd weeks we can just pretend that this never happened. Mac: You're pregnant? Juno: I'm sorry. I'm sorry... And if it is any consolation I have heartburn that is radiating in my knee caps and I haven't taken a dump since like Wednesday... morning. Bren: I didn't even know that you were sexually active. Juno: I, uh... Mac: Who is the kid? Juno: The-the baby? I don't really know much about it other than, I mean, it has fingernails, allegedly. Bren: Nails, really? Juno: Yeah! Mac: No, I know, I mean who's the father, Juno? Juno: Umm... It's Paulie Bleeker. Mac: Paulie Bleeker? Juno: What? Mac: I didn't think he had it in him. Leah: I know, right? . . . . Mac: Did you see that coming? Bren: Yeah... but I was hoping she was expelled, or into hard drugs. Mac: Or DWI... anything but this. . . . . Mac: And this, of course, is Juno. Mark: Like the city in Alaska? Juno: No. Mark Loring: Oh, okay. . . . . Vanessa: Your parents are probably wondering where you are. Juno: Nah... I mean, I'm already pregnant, so what other kind of shenanigans could I get into? . . . . Juno: You should've gone to China, you know, cause I hear they give away babies like free iPods. You know, they pretty much just put them in those t-shirt guns and shoot them out at sporting events. The city of Juneau (pronounced Juno) is located in Alaska. "Juno" wasn't named after city, Juno is the Roman goddess of marriage and queen of the gods. Both Ellen Page (Juno) and Michael Cera (Paulie) were born in Canada where "Juno" was filmed. Ellen Page is one year older than Michael Cera. In 2007, she was 20, while he was 19. Michael Cera was born in June (assonant with Juno). In real life, Ellen Page is friends with Olivia Thirlby (Leah). Michael Cera plays guitar in his free time. The hamburger phone in the movie is owned by the writer, Diablo Cody. When searching for potential parents for her baby, Juno says she's looking for someone cool "like a graphic designer." In real life, both Diablo Cody's ex-husband and Ellen Page's father are graphic designers. Before Juno visit, Mark is sitting at his computer reading Diablo Cody's real-life blog, known as "The Pussy Ranch."
