16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Los Angeles, January 23, 2010 Screen Actors Guild presented its Actor® statuette for the outstanding motion picture and primetime television performances of 2009 at the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony attended by film and television's leading actors. Ballots to choose the recipients were sent to the nearly 100,000 active members of Screen Actors Guild nationwide. Christina Applegate, Diane Kruger, Simon Baker, Kate Hudson, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Benjamin Bratt, Mo'Nique, Gabourey Sidibe and Christoph Waltz were presenters. They join previously announced presenters Alec Baldwin, Sandra Bullock, George Clooney, Brian Geraghty, Felicity Huffman, Anna Kendrick, Jane Lynch, Anthony Mackie, Michelle Monaghan, Carey Mulligan, Chris O'Donnell, Anna Paquin, Jeremy Renner, Ray Romano, Kyra Sedgwick, Meryl Streep, Justin Timberlake, Stanley Tucci and Sigourney Weaver in honoring their colleagues at this year's SAG ceremony. Three-time SAG Awards nominee Christina Applegate was nominated for her performance in “Samantha Who?” First-time at SAG Awards, Diane Kruger received two nominations for her supporting role and ensemble performance in the feature film “Inglourious Basterds.” Kate Hudson received her second SAG Awards nomination for performance in musical film “Nine.” Four-time SAG Award nominee Morgan Freeman was nominated for his lead role as Nelson Mandela in “Invictus.” First-time SAG Awards nominee Simon Baker was nominated for his work as detective Patrick Jane in “The Mentalist.” Four-time winner and eight-time nominee, Helen Mirren was nominated for her lead role in “The Last Station.” Newcomer at SAG Awards, Gabourey Sidibe received a double nomination for her lead and cast performance in “Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' By Sapphire.” In her first SAG Awards appearance, Mo'Nique received two nominations for her supporting and cast performances in “Precious: Based on The Novel 'Push' By Sapphire.” First-time SAG Awards nominee Christoph Waltz received double nominations for his supporting and ensemble performances in “Inglourious Basterds.” Screen Actors Guild originated awards for the outstanding performances by a motion picture cast and by television comedy and drama ensembles. This year, the Actor® for a motion picture cast performance went to “Inglourious Basterds”, while the Actors® for television comedy and drama ensemble performances went to “Glee” and “Mad Men.” “Star Trek” and “24” were awarded for outstanding performances by a stunt ensemble in film and television. Jane Lynch introduced a spirited film montage that reveled in actors' comic gifts. Honored with individual awards were Jeff Bridges, Sandra Bullock, Mo'Nique and Christoph Waltz for performances in motion pictures, and Kevin Bacon, Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, Michael C. Hall, Julianna Margulies and Drew Barrymore for performances in television. Sandra Bullock presented Betty White with Screen Actors Guild's highest honor, the 46th Annual Life Achievement Award, following a filmed tribute. The 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was a presentation of Jeff Margolis Productions in association with Screen Actors Guild Awards, LLC. Jeff Margolis was executive producer and director. Kathy Connell was producer. JoBeth Williams, Daryl Anderson, Shelley Fabares, Paul Napier and Yale Summers were producers for SAG. The 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony was simulcasted live on TNT and TBS from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center on Saturday, January 23, at 8 PM (ET/PT), 7 PM (CT) and 6 PM (MT).
